The garden design competition for nursery children was announced as part of a traditional program, in which 86 nurseries, totalling 2400 children created a small garden with huge succcess in 2011. The motto of the program in 2012 is „I will be a gardener.”

In only a month and a half, the greatest exhibition in the field of horticulture, the 19th Hortus Hungaricus International Horticultural Exhibition & Trade Fair will open its gates again in the usual surroundings of Szigetszentmiklós. We asked András Treer, managing director of Flora Hungaria Wholesale Flower Market to explain the motto of this year’s exhibition: “more, different, unmissable...”.

Advertised flower decorations, bunches, bowls, etc. typical of the shop can be prepared on-the-spot and displayed within a one-hour show.

The Stihl Timbersport logging competition will once again entertain the audience with the events of the international competition in 2012. The curiosity and beauty of this unique sport will be presented within the framework of a real show twice daily on Saturday and Sunday. 

The Interactive Small Garden Machine Show is set to be a real curiosity.

Dr. Sándor Fazekas, the Regional Development Minister highlighted the importance of the development of horticulture at the opening ceremony of last year’s Hortus Hungaricus exhibition and at this year’s press conference where the event was announced. He remarked that it is the most labour intensive area within agriculture, and this branch provides the livelihood for 300-350 families. He mentioned that the management of the Ministry has recently been negotiating with Hungarian horticulture experts in order to find solutions to the industry’s problems and to develop the opportunities for improvement.

The power of Flora Hungaria community is in its multi-colouredness, special products of high quality and wide selection. Several members of the Flora community plan to have a unique presence at Hortus Hungaricus. In addition to the individual stands, Flora Hungaria members again prepare a unique, breath-taking community stand which presents the products of its members. The exhibitors and the stand serve two purposes: to introduce novelties to the professionals and to influence taste and encourage comsumption within the private sector.

A flower arrangement application is to be announced under the title of „The best autumn bouquet” and is open to all. Hand finished bouquets of any flower arrangement style can be entered.

The participants of this competition have to create a furnished living environment of plants and flowers within 10 m2 (kitchen, living-room, room, winter garden...) We are sure that this competition offers the opprtunity for flower arrangers to draw the attention of both interior designers and the interior design media. Homes decorated with plants and flowers afford a better quality of life for their residents. We would like to place its importance in the focus of the attention. In addition, this program will establish an exciting and contented spectacle for visitors and we are expecting their recognition.

STIHL will organise the national logging championship for the 11th occasion, the final destination of which is the Hortus Hungaricus in September this year. Teams of Hungarian loggers will compete. The events of the competition which simulate everyday tasks require not only professional knowledge but also a great level of concentration. Tight competition is expected. In addition to tree felling, limbing, bucking, splitting and piling, the teams will also have to replace the chain in a chainsaw. Beyond speed and professionalism, it is important to draw the attention to the dangers of this work.

The largest medium and higher level schools of our profession are present at the exhibition, where the students interested in further education can get information about courses. A job fair is also organised for which we expect applications from companies and entrepreneurs who are looking for employees.
